Biography
Dr. Antonio Ortiz holds a Bachelor's degree in Architectural Technology and Building Construction from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Spain) in 2014, and he did the bachelor’s thesis at Universidad Autónoma de México within the framework of the programmes UPC-Latin America. He obtained his MSc in Environmental Engineering at Barcelona School of Civil Engineering (UPC) (2018). He was recruited by the Group of Environmental Engineering and Microbiology (GEMMA) as a researcher (2017-2021). During this time, he carried out his PhD Thesis in the framework of the international projects INCOVER (Innovative Eco-Technologies for Resource Recovery from Wastewater) and PAVITR (Potential and Validation of Sustainable Natural & Advance Technologies for Water & Wastewater Treatment, Monitoring and Safe Water Reuse in India), both funded by the European Commission H2020 Research and Innovation Programme.
He is expert in the field of nature-based solutions for wastewater treatment on a pilot and demonstrative full-scale assist by biokinetic and hydrodynamic modelling, with special focus on microalgae-based treatement. Antonio Ortiz is co-author of 8 research papers and currently his research interest is focused on implementing nature-based solutions at demonstrative-scale.
